First photo is a photo of my mom, dad, and me before my sister was born and it was took in Napa Valley, California. The second photo is a picture of me in my house that my parents lived for 5 years. They lived in Parkmerced for 3 years moved to San Jose for 2 years and came back to Parkmerced the same house that they lived in before, and lived there for 2 more years. The third photo is a photo of an apartment where she lived in with my dad when she moved to San Jose. It changed a little, but it's still similar as when she have lived there. And finally The interview, I asked my mom some questions about her life before and after, and she answered the questions. Source type:
First two pictures, picture of my mom, dad, and me and the photo of me in my house those photos are primary sources because we have possession of those photos and we are the ones who took it. And also the interview that I did was a primary source because I asked question to my mom directly and these answers I got from her are direct. And the photo of the apartment that I have up there, where my mom used to live in San Jose is secondary source because we do not have a possession of this photo, I found this from the internet when I searched up 'avalon san jose' because that's where she has lived and the photo was not took by us and as mentioned, not possessed by us. Therefore it is a secondary source. Short explanation of the source’s significance to the event:
I selected these three photos and an interview because of few significance to it. The first photo I have here, is picture of my mom, dad, and me and this photo is significant because of the time that I got to spend my childhood alone, I was the first kid and the last kid at that time. The only child. I was the center of attention the whole time, whole day. And the second photo which is me in our house that we lived in, is important to us because it gives us our memory back where we have stayed in America, and where my parents have lived for almost over 5 years. It's where they have mostly lived in America and that photo brings us memories of that house that we lived in. Thirdly the picture of an apartment in San Jose is also important to us because even though two years was a short amount of time compared to how much my parents lived, they still believe that it was one of their most important time of their life, my dad got his first job in San Jose and that was the house our whole family lived in and we believe that it was a very important place to rely upon for us! And the interview shows what my mom's opinion about these two different places, and what she thinks about these each places. Written recount of the event with direct reference to all of the sources:
In 1992, my mom and my dad met in college, and they got married in 1995 February. And in June they moved to America for their master degrees. As mentioned in the interview, she went to America with my dad's families. They all lived in one big house back then. And when she moved to America, one problem that she had to face was the communication. She did learn English, however she wasn't that fluent in it so she had hard time communicating, understanding, and socializing. In 1998, September 2nd I was born. When I was born, they moved to San Jose because my dad got his first job in an animation game company. And after two years of working, my sister was born in May 8th, 2000. Then they moved back to Parkmerced where we have lived before. My mom wanted to work, so they took an interview by a phone call to apply as a professor in an university. They were both accepted, and they came to Korea in 2002. When she came back to Korea, she had some struggles. She found it very different from America, because of all the environment going around her. In America it was more relaxed, comfortable, and she felt free, however on the other hand in Korea she felt like she's getting chased by someone, she feels rushed, and the environment here is very aggressive. Her life has changed so much before she went to America, even though she is in the same land, Korea. She feels like she had so much work to do because she had to take care of two children and she had to work as well. She regrets coming back, and by her regretting she wants us to study in America and live there and that's what we want to do after our experience in America. And that's why she sent us to this school, to study more in a comfortable and relaxed environment. I believe by her experience in America and her regretting makes where we are right now and who we are.
Roles of Historian:
I had to find sources or an evidence that changed our history. It took me few days and thinking to do to decide these artifacts or evidences. And I thought getting the direct interview from my parent would be a good idea so I did an interview of my mom. There were some of events that I have mentioned above in my timeline however, I chose houses that we lived in because these were the photo or memory of the shelters that my parents have spent their first time in America. And where I was born as well. I got some answers from my mom and I thought that when my mom said she regretted coming here I interpreted to the fact that I go to this school, KIS. And also this was a very important event to our family because if my parents did not go to America, this wouldn't have happened, the school that I go to, and our life would be very different.
AMERICA .!
